HOW TO CREATE AN ADVERT

In the last post I have showed you two adverts that I found interesting and attractive for most people. In  today's post I would love to introduce you to the new topic 'creating an advert'.  I will go through this subject step by step to explain the inspiration, idea, process, purpose of this media text.

Inspiration

I have started my research with looking for the main inspirations. I know there is never a second chance at making a first good impression, so I decided to mix the art collage such as colorful posters connected into one masterpiece with my own hand sketch on the piece of paper to make the most of the these image. On the internet I found three collages that inspirated me the most for further work on the topic. The first photo of a woman has my attention thanks to the contrast of colors and  cloudy eyes as blinded. In the second image what I found interesting is a part of  human back and hands on it covered in the leaves and flowers. The last photo is it the Nike advertisment that shows the mashup of few posters in one color scheme background and highlighted product in the central part of an image.

Process

Choose the product/idea you would like to advertise:
For my own advert I have chosen to picture strong powerful womens with different kind of imperfections to promote self-love, being pride to be a woman and treat the feminity as an advantage.

Start drawning/sketching your ideas and collect research images from the internet:
In the internet I have found on the internet body types image and I started sketching these by myself on the paper with a black ink.

Here you can see the middle of the process, in the final version I sketched not four but  three bigger women with a silver ink.

In the next step I printed another image and croped it out into different shapes with a frame (background color) around the women and stick it to the sketch with a tape.

I have taken a photo of an image, but as you can notice it is blurry and unclear so I scanned the project.

Write a tagline:

The slogan for my image it is related to the message of this text that is it written in French, because the next year I will be studying the French and English Language ate DMU. 'Je suis une femme' means'I am a woman' it explains what it is advertising and it is a catchy, easy and memorable phrase.

Work with software such as Photoshop or Pixlr:

Next I uploaded the image to the Adobe Photoshop ( option print,  A4 format, 300 pixels, portrait orientation) and drag it and change for a normal layer to work in a one tab. I added an initial tagline with a mock font and size.

Later I tried a few font styles, but in the end I chose a 3D version in the size of 60 with a 5 in depth without shadow in a pink color located under the models. I used the oil paint filter and customised it.

In the last step I exported the project into a PNG file and upload the final version on blog as you can see :)

The final results:
The process of creating an advert took me a lot of time to understand how to use softwares such as: Photoshop or Pixlr. I have never tried before to use them, so it was a huge challenge to face the task to create an advert without some tools or skills. Even though I enjoyed it and I have learnt a lot from that experience so far. I know that that task is only a beginning of my long-lasting friendship with editing programs. Thanks to Photoshop I believe I created quite good piece of art, but still it needs to be improved. The next time I would pay attention more to the used filters, (because this photo is slightly blurry) and spend few minutes longer on 3D font style settings.

Comments

  1. You have included several images in your blog post but not referenced them correctly. Please make you add a link to the source underneath each photograph as shown in class. There is some good technical process with commentary on the tools you used which clearly shows how your project developed. Well done. It would be best to see more commentary on how the research you completed informed your work here. There is very little reflection on the final outcome. What do you like best about your poster design? Is there something that could be improved?
